Beethoven (Ages 6-9)
Our Elementary students thrive in the Beethoven classrooms. Named after the famous composer and musician, Ludwig von Beethoven, our students similarly develop a multitude of talents and skills under the guidance of their teachers. At this stage, our students are encouraged to reach their highest potential in all subject areas. We continue to follow the Ontario Ministry of Education’s curriculum, alongside our own enriched program. We also follow the IB Program and promote curiosity and excitement for learning in the classroom.

What is IB?
At MMES we follow aspects of the PYP (Primary Years Program) that was created by the IB Organization.
The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) is a curriculum framework designed for students aged 3 to 12. It focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. It is defined by six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, explored using knowledge and skills derived from six subject areas, with a powerful emphasis on inquiry-based learning. (www.ibo.org)
At MMES students in Grades 1-3 participate in a variety of inquiry-based projects throughout the school year. Our most recent project took place during the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. Our students researched the countries who participated, discussed their feelings and attitudes towards the sports and athletes, and presented their project to other students and teachers during an exhibition.
